Dr. Apoorv Chebolu is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon. Education and training included an undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia, medical school and internship at Eastern Virginia Medical School, ophthalmology residency at Albany Medical Center, and a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Scheie Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania. Background and Training
Dr. Chebolu's academic foundation formed in Computer Engineering, paired with an Engineering Business minor and an undergraduate record of multiple scholarships and awards, Dean's Honors List recognition, and graduation with high distinction. Research began early through NIH/NIDDK work at Vanderbilt University. During residency, Dr. Chebolu taught junior residents and medical students while building a scholarly record, multiple research awards, a competitive research grant, and national conference presentations. The vitreoretinal fellowship added several published journal articles, the Best Fellow Case Presentation Award at the Atlantic Coast Retina Club, and the Fellow Excellence in Teaching Award. Surgical scope spans inherited retinal diseases, uveitis, diabetic and recurrent retinal detachments, and subretinal injections for gene therapy, mastered by few specialists.
