About Dr. Kang

Dr. Tony Kang is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and medical retina specialist. He performs cataract surgery utilizing the latest technologies including laser-assisted surgery as well as multifocal and toric implants. He also specializes in the diagnosis and management of medical retinal conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions, and retinal tears. He has published several peer-reviewed articles and has been a co-investigator for many clinical trials in Retina.
After receiving his undergraduate degree at Cornell University, Dr. Kang obtained his medical degree at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at the University of Rochester Flaum Eye Institute where he served as Chief Resident followed by a fellowship in Medical Retina at the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute.

Dr. Kang is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and American Society of Retina Specialists.

Dr. Kang speaks English, Korean and basic Spanish. Dr. Kang’s interest outside of medicine include basketball, hiking, and spending time with his wife and daughter. He is excited to move to the Northern Virginia region to provide care to the patients living in the area.
